MILFORD - Franklin "Frankie" Almond Fountain was born on December 31, 1938 and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 4:44 pm. Frankie was the only son of the late John and Pauline Fountain. He was raised by his late Aunt Priscilla Fountain and late Uncle Franklin P. Fountain as a result of his parents passing away while he was at a young age.
Frankie graduated from William Henry High School, Dover, Del. in 1958. Immediately upon graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corp where he served in the infantry division as a Military Police Officer from 1958-1962. Frankie's passion in law enforcement intrigued him to pursue careers as a Police Officer in the Town of Bridgeville (1964-1968) and within the City of Milford (1972-1986).
Frankie joined the Carlisle Fire Company in 1974, where he served in the capacities of Firefighter, Engineer, Ambulance Driver, and Fire Policeman. He served on the Board of Directors and various other committees within the department throughout his tenure. In 1994, Frankie became a life member of the Carlisle Fire Company and was honored for over 45 years of dedicated service to the department in 2020. He prided himself on being the oldest, active member and one of the company's top responders every year.
Throughout the years of 1963-2006, Frankie worked for the Milford School District, Con Agra Poultry, and the State of Delaware JP Court #6 as a State Constable before his retiring in January 2007. In addition to his employment, Frankie served two consecutive terms (1995-1999) as the Fourth Ward Councilman where he was instrumental in upgrading water and sewer system, paving streets, laying sidewalks, and working to obtain a swimming pool within the local Boys and Girls Club. Frankie was a dedicated member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Milford, Del. and always went the extra mile to help his church family and those in need within the community.
Frankie leaves to cherish his precious memories, children, Pamela James (Jason Sr.) of Milford, Del., Brennon Fountain (Jenell) of Milford, Del., Cynthia Turner of Newark, Del., Kevin Fountain of Dover, Del., Derek Fountain of Dover, Del., Joann Wilson (Henry III) of Harrington, Del.; grandchildren, Jason James Jr. of Wilmington, Del., Joshua James (Kelsey) of Frederica, Del., Toshi Reynolds of Milford, Del., Adrionna Fountain of Milford, Del., Kellan Turner of Newark, Del., Destiny Fountain of Dover, Del., Henry Wilson IV (Chechnya) of Harrington, Del.; two great grandchildren; a devoted companion, Juliette Jones-Williams of Dover, Del.; the mother of two of his children and good friend, Gwendolyn Fountain of Milford, Del.; two special extended sons, Kevin Pettyjohn of Harrington, Del. and Vada Sample of Lincoln, Del.; two special friends, Charles Johnson of Lincoln, Del. and Donald Hines of Ellendale, Del.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who mourns his death.
