Frank Joseph Rooney, 82
Frank Joseph Rooney of Greenwood passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, in his home. He was 82.
Mr. Rooney was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Bridgeton, N.J., son of the late Frank and Rena Rooney.
He flew P-51 Mustangs in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Following his military service he graduated from Temple University.
Mr. Rooney worked for Sipple Memorials in Milford, and retired from the Milford Wal-Mart in 2002 after 12 years as a greeter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Dorothy Mae Rooney; three children and their spouses, Ormond "Butch" and Catherine Porter, and Debbie Ann and Ronnie Elliott, all of Greenwood and Wayne R. and Terrie Porter of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four grandchildren, Zachariah Porter of Stafford, Va., Ronnie K. Elliott and his wife, Amy of Greenwood, Michael Elliott of Greenwood, and Shane Podchlne of St. Petersburg; two sisters, Laura Williams and Dorothy Williams, both of Bridgeton.
Services and burial with military honors will be 1 p.m. Friday in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
