DOVER - Frank C. Gibson Sr., of Dover, passed away Wednesday Oct. 22, 2008, in his home with family Dover. He was 97. He was born on Feb. 3, 1911, in Jersey City, N.J., to the late George and Elsie Linz Gibson. Mr. Gibson lived in Dover since 1984, having moved from Haddon Heights, N.J. He was a welder, retiring from the Naval Air Engineering Center, Philadelphia, Pa., in 1973. He was a great story teller with an excellent memory. He was always a gentlemen. During vacations and retirement he enjoyed camping and later pulling a travel trailer throughout the country. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marion "Sally," just 33 days ago, they were married 71 years. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Raymond; and brothers, George, Robert, and Raymond; also a sister, Dorthy Mae Vanatta. He is survived by a son and his wife, Frank C. and Marie Gibson Jr. of Melbourne, Fla.; daughter, Gale P. Goldey of Litch Field Park, Ariz.; brother, Harold D. Gibson of Jackson, N.J.; brother, Henry M. Gibson of Toms River, N.J.; granddaughter, Deborah G. Wardick; grandsons, Roger R. Goldey, Mark R. Goldey, Frank C. Gibson III, Marshall B. Gibson; great-grandson, J. Peter Flaming; great-granddaughters, Amy N. Wardick, Melanie B. White, great- grandson, Richard A. Goldey; great- granddaughters, Alexandera R. Goldey, Giovana L. Goldey, Krista Stanton; and great-grandchild, Joey McFarland. Graveside services and burial will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Bay View Cemetery.
