Francis 'Babe' Warren, 74
CLAYTON - Francis "Babe" Warren of Clayton passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at home, following a long battle with cancer. He was 74.
Mr. Warren was born July 30, 1933, in Dover, son of the late Elmer and Virgie (Walker) Warren.
He worked as a farmer for most of his life and also worked as a Kent County tax assessor for 24 years before retiring in 1993.
Mr. Warren was a member of Kenton United Methodist Church, the Historical Vintage Car Club of Delaware and a former member of the U.S. Trotting Association.
His favorite pastimes were showing his '57 Chevy and owning, driving and racing standardbred horses.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Warren was preceded in death by a son, Robert F. Warren; three brothers, Clarence Warren, Lloyd Warren and Cecil Warren; and a sister, Mildred Warren Lucks.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gladys (Council) Warren; a daughter, Sheryl "Sherry" Eierman and her husband Carl of Clayton; two grandchildren, William F. Eierman and Jodi L. Eierman; two great-grandchildren, Carlee Marie Eierman and Payton Nicole Eierman; several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews; his extended family, Kim Austin and Madison Zinszer; and many devoted friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and also one hour prior to the services on Monday.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kenton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 188, Kenton, DE 19955; or to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
