Francis A. Riley Jr.

Francis A. Riley Jr., 69 SMYRNA - Francis A. Riley Jr., of Smyrna, passed away at home Monday, Sept. 1, 2008. He was 69. Mr. Riley was born Jan. 14, 1939, in Wilmington, the son of the late Francis A. and Cecelia Miller Riley. Mr. Riley worked for the University of Delaware for over 25 years and retired as a Media Systems Coordinator. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Riley enjoyed woodworking. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Cecelia "Cy" Thynge and Marie White. He is survived by a son, Francis A. Riley III and his wife Kathie of Hartly; a daughter, Patricia Mae Smith and her husband Chris of Bear; a sister, Barbara Lumbeck and her husband Donald; and five grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main St. Smyrna, where friends may call one hour. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Kent County S.P.C.A., 32 Shelter Circle Camden, DE 19934.
