Frances Vaught Silver Fischer, 83
DOVER - Frances Vaught Silver Fischer, of Dover, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Sunday, June 22, 2008, at her home. She was 83.
After coming to Dover in 1962, Frances worked in various administrative positions with the City of Dover, Wesley College and Marty's Mobile Homes.
For many years she was an active member of the local chapter of the Elks and regularly volunteered with the Board of Elections and several charitable organizations in the Dover area.
Since retiring, Frances maintained active associations with the Harrington Senior Center and the Modern Maturity Center, Dover.
She was an avid gardener, never far in spirit from her farm-girl roots in Mountain City, Tenn.
Frances always thoroughly enjoyed a large circle of friends whose love and admiration for her was and is surpassed only by that of her remaining family. She will be missed - dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James A. Silver; second husband, Richard Fischer; and her youngest son, Mark R. Silver.
Frances is survived by her son, J. Lew Silver of Northport, Ala.; three sisters, Mildred Lowe and Alice Joines, both of Mountain City, and Naomi Smith of Memphis; two stepdaughters, Linda Thomas of Hockessin and Donna Herring of Newark; and her beloved cats, Kitty and Midnight.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, where services will follow.
Burial will be at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
