GEORGETOWN - Frances Oteua Russell West died on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 with her loving family at her side. She resided at the Harrison House in Georgetown for the last five years. She suffered from Alzheimer's disease. Mrs. West was born on Feb. 25, 1933 to her parents, Mary Etta Fletcher Russell, and William James Russell, who preceded her in death. She was born in Dorchester County, MD and was educated in their public schools. She married Gilbert Jacobs of Oak Grove, DE and moved to Seaford, DE where she worked as a domestic for many years. She was a cook at Macke's Cafeteria and then later retired from DuPont in 1994 with 15 years of service. Mrs. West enjoyed bowling, cooking, and traveling. She traveled all over Europe and visited many countries such as France, Holland, Germany, and England. Mrs. West also enjoyed family cookouts, and playing card games. She loved the Baltimore Orioles baseball team. She made friends wherever she went and never met a stranger. Whenever you visited her home you never left hungry. She later married Rudolph West from Dagsboro, DE. She is survived by her eight daughters, Barbara (Willie) Giles of Greenwood; Betty (Willie) Edwards of Bridgeville; Doris (Rickey) Russell-Terrell of San Antonio, TX; Faye Jacobs of Georgetown; Bonnie (Roland) Chase of Easton, MD; Frances (Stephen) Lawley of Chesapeake, VA; Shirley Jacobs of Capitol Heights, MD; and Yuvette (Alvin) Jacobs-Cook of Waldorf, MD; and two sisters, Joyce Brummell of Seaford; and Diann (Ford) Beulah of Willingboro, NJ; and one brother James Butler of Hurlock, MD; one cousin, Raymond Fletcher and wife Delores of Indianapolis, IN; and 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren. Special acknowledgments for raising her grandson, Darryl Jacobs; and great-grandson, De Shawn Cannon; and to her adopted son, Gregory Henry; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The Celebration of Life service will be held at Refuge Temple, 455 N Front St, Seaford, DE 19973 (302) 628-9725 with viewing and visitation from 9 to 11AM Saturday, January 16, 2016, with the Celebration of Life service immediately following. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Hurlock, MD. The Repast will be at Jimmy's Grille at 18541 S Main St, Bridgeville, DE 19933 (302) 337-7575.
