Frances Genevieve
Cassidy, 95
Frances Genevieve Cassidy passed away peacefully with family by her side early Friday morning, April 14th, 2023. She was 95 years young.
Frances was born November 20th, 1927 in Bassett, Virginia, as Frances Genevieve Clark, to the late Anderson Carper and Addie E. Haynes Clark. Frances had six brothers, Elbert, Roy, Chester, Raymond, Junior, and McCoy Clark, as well as four sisters, Estelle Clark, Era Widener, Magdalene Triplett, and Virginia Foley, all of whom passed prior to her. She was known to her Virginia family members as Genevieve.
In 1945, Frances moved to Hoboken, New Jersey. She found work at Franklin Bakers, later General Foods, where she met the love of her life, Bob Cassidy. They were truly in love with each other and were married for 37 years.
In 1964 they relocated to Dover, Delaware to work for General Foods. Frances was a stay at home mother to their three children, Catherine, Carol, and John. Bob and Frances raised their family in Towne Point, where the door was always open to family and friends. Frances is remembered by many as having been a great friend to her neighbors.
In 1973 she returned to the workforce at International Playtex, from where she retired in 1992. Following her retirement, in 1994, she traveled to Europe for the 50th Anniversary of D-Day with her husband and son. In later years she dedicated her time to her children, grandchildren, and Holy Cross Church, where she was a member. She also enjoyed being part of a vibrant prayer group, working in her yard and garden, and took tremendous pride in her home. Additionally, Frances survived both kidney and breast cancer.
Frances was predeceased by her husband, Robert T. Cassidy, who passed in 1999. Having had a life-long interest in her family tree, and while her memory was still strong, she passed her stories and treasures on to her family.
