Florence Ruth Schneider, 82
BEAR - Florence Ruth Schneider of Bear and Lewes, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at her home. She was 82.
She was born in Paulsboro, N.J., on Dec. 20, 1924, daughter of the late Ruth and Francis Flynn.
Mrs. Schneider was a graduate of P.S. DuPont High School and Goldey Beacom College.
She enjoyed a 30-year administrative career with the State of Delaware, beginning as the secretary to the principal of Brookside Elementary School.
Mrs. Schneider later accepted a position with the former Newark Special School District and then worked for Delaware State Hospital, where she retired.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Charles J. Schneider; four children, Mary M. Borecki and her husband Thomas of Middletown, Joseph T. Schneider and his wife Susan of Newark, Robert C. Schneider and his wife Barbara of New London, Pa., and Susan Schneider of Elkton, Md.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, East Chestnut Hill and Gender roads, Newark, where friends may call after 10 a.m.
A committal service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Heartland Hospice, 261 Chapman Road, Suite 100, Newark, DE 19702.
