DOVER - Felix I. Cruz, Jr. died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at Kent General Hospital. Mr. Cruz was born in Jersey City, N.J. on Aug. 5, 1961, to the late Felix I. Cruz, Sr. and Ana Maria Cruz. He moved to Delaware in 1982 and worked for Kent General Hospital until 1986, the State of Delaware Department of Corrections from 1986 until 1996, for Kent Construction and RPJ Services in Smyrna, as a mechanic, from 2001 until present. Felix loved family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He found joy in blessing others and making people laugh. He was a Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan, an avid fisherman and loved relaxing on his boat. Those who knew him would describe him as: a man of faith and his word, loving, dedicated, hardworking, honest, loyal, selfless, and hysterically comical. Mr. Cruz is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 30 years, Ana L. Toro Cruz; four children, Felix I. Cruz III(Laura) of Dover, David J. Cruz of Smyrna, Elizabeth I. Buckson (Wesley) of Smyrna, and Alex J. Toro-Cruz (Desiree) of Ft. Drum, New York; brothers and sisters, Jose L. Torres of Dover, Mark Anthony Cruz of Felton, Steven Cruz (Krista) of Boston, Mass., Gidget Alvarado of Dover, Lillian Toro (Jose) of Delton, Fla., Ana R. Diaz (George) of Dover, Iris Anthony (Matthew) of Spotsylvania, Va., and Maria Darby (William) of Magnolia. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Athalia Cruz, Ariyana Cruz, Stephen Buckson, Jah'Lyse Buckson, Jah'Leil Buckson, Brayden Cutchin, Alex Toro, Jr., Adrianna Toro, Arien Toro, Kal-El Cruz, Jeramiah Cruz, Michelle Adams, Amare Murphy, and Joey Torres; and a host of nieces and nephews that called him Pop Pop. Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016 at, Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd. (Rt. 10) Dover, DE 19901 with a visitation starting at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Dover. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any monetary contributions be made to the Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover, DE 19904 in honor of Felix to offset funeral expenses.
