Everett James Marshall TOWNSEND - Everett James Marshall, of Townsend, passed away in the home of his daughter, Virginia Davis, Monday July 14, 2008. He is now at peace with his creator and his soul mate and beloved wife of 63 years, Eugenia Williamson Marshall who passed away earlier this year. Mr. Marshall was born Feb. 19, 1923, in Leipsic, the second son of the late James Henry Marshall and Estella Killen Marshall. He loved the town of Leipsic and helped build the Leipsic Volunteer Fire Company and the Leipsic Bridge. Mr. Marshall spent all of his life working hard. He drove trucks for Charlie Poore Livestock, Singer Trucking, Rothwells, Diamond Supply Company, Carey's Diesel and for others too numerous to mention. He was an award winning safe driver for the Truckers Teamsters. Mr. Marshall also worked as a mechanic, owning and operating two Phillips 66 Gas Stations in the days when your odd or even tag number determined the days you could buy gas. He was also known as a prankster and enjoyed playing little jokes on people. His hobbies in his younger days included playing baseball in the Leipsic Baseball League, donkey baseball, fishing and crabbing. Mr. Marshall's favorite sports were anything his son, Jimmy was involved in, wrestling, baseball and football. Following his retirement, he and Eugenia moved to Melbourne Beach, Fla., for 23 years where they made friends from all over the world. He lived a good, long and mostly active life. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Killen; four sisters, Beatrice Truax, Ida Pleasanton, Stellie "Marcie" Mast and Violet Bailey and two grandchildren, Barry Dean Reece, Sr. and Eric James Marshall. He is survived by a son, James E. Marshall and his wife Kimberly of Blackistons; a daughter, Virginia L. Davis and her husband George; two brothers, James Henry Marshall and Frank Marshall both of Leipsic; two sisters, Mary Rice formerly of Milford and Alice Brown of Felton; his grandchildren, Ronald E. Reece Jr., Greg Dillon and his wife Nickki, Vickie Collins, DJ Marshall and his wife Jamie and Katelyn and Jason Baker and his great-grandchildren, Cassie Collins, Barry Dean Reece Jr., Darren Cole Reece, Phoebe D. Marshall and Natalie Marie Dillon. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna, where friends may call Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. Instead of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Leipsic Volunteer Fire Company, 318 Main Street Dover, DE 19901 or to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway Dover, DE 19904.
