Everett J. Kimmey, 90

MILLSBORO - Everett J. Kimmey, retired brigadier general, of Millsboro, formerly of Wilmington, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 5, 2008. He was 90.

He was born Aug. 13, 1917, in Houston.

Mr. Kimmey graduated from Milford High School and Strayers College in Philadelphia.

He was a World War II veteran, serving with the U.S. Army. He was a retired special agent for the intelligence division of the U.S. Treasury Department and the former deputy commander of the 261st Signal Command of the Delaware Army National Guard.

Mr. Everett was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach.

He thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and serving with the Army Reserves. He also enjoyed visiting local restaurants.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Madlyn; son, Dennis J. Kimmey; step-son, Donald Ellis; and step-daughter, Madlyn Dayton.

He is survived by his son-in-law and caregiver, Harold Dayton of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Alma Kimmey of California, Blair Lee of Wilmington and Tracy A. Rahner of Wilmington; and several great grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Wednesday, March 12, at noon at Epworth United Methodist Cemetery in Rehoboth Beach.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Building Fund of Epworth U.M. Church, 20 Baltimore Ave, Rehoboth Beach, DE, 19971.
