Evelyn S. Forbes

MAGNOLIA - Evelyn S. Forbes, passed away Monday, July 2, 2012, in her home surrounded by her family. Evelyn was born on June 6, 1931, in Bowers Beach, Del., daughter of the late Glancy and Lula (Wix) Spayd. She was a Caesar Rodney, Class of 1949 graduate, and enjoyed life as a wife, mother, grandmom and homemaker. Evelyn was a member of the Magnolia United Methodist Church and a choir member for over 50 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, June Waller, Lida King, and Gene Spayd. Evelyn is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jerry Forbes; children, Glenn Forbes and his wife Beth, of Rehoboth Beach; Mike Forbes, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Dennis Forbes and his wife Carolyn, of Magnolia, Cheryl Howlett of Dover, and Chris Forbes and his wife Mac, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two siblings, Gloria Gray of Dover and Gertrude Johnson, of Seattle, Wa.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be at noon Friday, July 6, 2012, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather two hours prior. Burial will follow in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901 or Bayhealth, Oncology Dept., 640 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
