DOVER - Evelyn Mae Shook passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Kent General Hospital. She was 74. Born Evelyn Bowen on Oct. 5, 1937, she lived life with a smile on her face. Evelyn spent years as a guidance counselor and loved working with children in schools. She lived in East Stroudsburg, Pa., for years before moving to Dover, to be closer to her grandchildren. Her love for quilting and her grandchildren was evident to anyone who met her. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Clifford Shook of Dover; and daughter, Julie Harbeson and son-in-law Mark of Townsend. She is also survived by three children who brought her great joy - her grandchildren, Sarah, David and Scott Harbeson. Evelyn also leaves two sisters, Roberta Martin and Lori Hurd; and a brother, Clifford Bowen; along with many nieces and nephews and their children. A memorial service remembering and celebrating Evelyn's life will be 4 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 West Division Street, Dover. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Evelyn's grandchildren's school for their Capital Building Campaign: MOT Charter School, 1156 Levels Road, Middletown, DE 19709. www.benniesmithfuneralhome.com
