MILTON - Evelyn J. Lankford passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at her home in Milton, Delaware.
She was born on July 25, 1930, the daughter of the late John West and Lutitia Messick West.
She was married to Henry F. Lankford. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1983.
"Ms. Evelyn" to many, she spent most of her life working to raise and care for her family. Known for her chicken and dumplings, she was an exceptional cook. Her greatest joy was her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed watching television and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, William H. Lankford and his wife Hilda, Thomas Lankford and his wife Pat all of Milton, Patricia Hennessy and her husband Melvin of Lewes, Henry "Hank" Lankford Jr. and his wife Norma of Dover, Roy Lankford and his girlfriend Sandy of Milford, Lutitia "Tish" Jones of Milton, and Joseph Lankford and his wife Diane of Milford; grandchildren, Michael Lankford and his wife Carine, JoAnn Chance and her husband JC, Kristie Lankford and her partner Jon, Justin Jones and his wife Stacy, Kimberly Sammons and her husband Matt, Ian Lankford and Hannah Lankford; great grandchildren, Molly Ann Jones, Will Masten and Danica Banks.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John Lankford; and two grandchildren, Angela Smith and Wendy Masten.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home - Fleischauer Chapel in Greenwood. Burial will follow at Saint Johnstown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
