Evelyn B. McCloskey, 88
DOVER - Evelyn B. McCloskey, of Dover and formerly of Milton, died Tuesday, March 27, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 88.
She was born on June 22, 1918, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Edwin and Edith (Walker) Booth.
Mrs. McCloskey had worked for the DuPont Co. and later enjoyed life as a homemaker.
She loved playing bridge, golfing, spending time with family and friends and doing cryptograms daily in an upstate newspaper. She was a world traveler and an Army wife, raising three children.
She would make friends for life, maintaining close relationships with her friends in Sherwood Park in Wilmington.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. James W. McCloskey in 2004; a brother, Leonard Booth; and a sister, Dorothy Brown.
She is survived by a daughter, Eileen Holloway and her husband, Howard of Kennett Square, Pa.; two sons, Michael McCloskey and his wife, Pam of Wilmington and Patrick McCloskey and his wife, Marilyn of Newark; three brothers, Edward Booth of Millsboro and twins Jack Booth of Newark and James Booth of Florida; five grandchildren, Marie, Michael, Denise, Patrick and Matthew; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m. Monday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover.
Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Breast Cancer Awareness, American Cancer Society, 92 Reads Way, Suite 205, New Castle, Delaware 19720-1633.
