LEWES - Eugene J. Chiappetta of Lewes, formerly of Aston, Pa., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, at Harbor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. He was 73.
Mr. Chiappetta was born Dec. 31, 1933, in Marcus Hook, Pa., son of the late Joseph and Antoinette (Schiavone) Chiappetta.
He worked as a barber from the age of 21. He owned and operated Eugene"s Mens Hair Style in Aston for many years, retiring in 1998.
Mr. Chiappetta served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Chiappetta; and three brothers, Anthony Chiappetta, Rudolph Chiappetta, and his half-brother, Carl Pezzino.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joanne (Knox) Chiappetta; his daughter, Joanne Chiappetta of Lewes; two sons, Michael Chiappetta of Lewes, and Stephen Chiappetta of Aston; and his sister, Rose Marie Pierce of Aston, Pa.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Edmond"s Catholic Church, King Charles and Laurel streets, Rehoboth Beach. Friends may call at the church beginning at 10 a.m.
Burial with military honors will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimers Association, 2306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
