DOVER - Esther Meredith Wilson, 97, of Dover, formerly of Federalsburg, Md., passed away at Westminster Village Health in Dover, on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011. Born on the family farm, near Federalsburg, on Dec. 27, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Alvin H. and Nora A. Parker Meredith. A 1930 graduate of Federalsburg High School, Mrs. Wilson worked many years at the DuPont Company in Seaford, retiring on July 1, 1976, as a laboratorian. An accomplished seamstress, she was also well known in Federalsburg for baking her yeast rolls. She enjoyed her yard and the variety of flowers that adorned it. Ms. Esther, as she was affectionately known, loved animals especially her cat. She was one of the two remaining original organizers of the DuPont Golden Girls; a member of Union United Methodist Church in Federalsburg and had been active in church circles in her earlier years. Mrs. Wilson is survived by a daughter, Rita W. Saulsbury and husband, Charles, of Dover; two sons, William Alan Wilson and wife, Sheila, of Reliance, Md., and Jerry M. Wilson and wife, Eleanor, of Chattaroy, Wash.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Emmitt A. Wilson; a sister, Helen M. Thomas; a brother, Carl W. Meredith; a grandson, Wade Saulsbury and a great-grandson, Wesley Wilson. Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, in Hill Crest Cemetery, Federalsburg. The Rev. Ken Deusa will officiate.
