GEORGETOWN - Esther G. Varley, of Georgetown, formerly of Woodbridge, Va., passed away Monday, March 24, 2008, in Harrison Senior Living Center in Georgetown.

She was born in East Orange, N.J., daughter to the late William and Mable (Dawson) Lawrence.

She was a homemaker and former ballerina.

Esther had a great sense of humor and enjoyed helping people. She greatly loved the ocean.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Denton C. Varley.

She is survived by her children, William Varley and his wife Frances of Jackson, N.J., Deborah Brown and her husband Barry of Bethany Beach; grandchildren, Kim Hayes and her husband Todd, William Varley Jr., Corey Brown and his wife Cari, Todd Brown and his wife Tisha, Joshua Brown and his wife Diem; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Lawrence.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on West Avenue in Ocean View.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Esther's memory to Easter Seals, 22317 DuPont Blvd., Georgetown, DE 19947.
