Ernestine 'Petie' Crismer, 79
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Ernestine "Petie" Crismer of Chestertown died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, in Chester River Hospital. She waged a protracted battle with amyloidosis. She was 79.
Ms. Crismer attended Western High School, Baltimore, but moved with her parents to Miami, where she graduated from Ponce de Leon High School in 1947.
After graduation, she moved back to Baltimore where she settled.
Throughout the years, she kept in contact with friends from Western High School and enjoyed attending Western High School class reunions.
She traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, and Africa and was on safari in the Serengeti.
In the early 1970s, she became a real estate agent, managed a number of real estate offices, and taught real estate courses at Catonsville Community College.
She was a longtime member of Rolling Road Country Club and very much enjoyed amateur competitive golf. She served as president of the Women's Golf Association of Baltimore in the mid-1980s. In the early 1990s she retired and moved to Seven Springs Country Club in New Port Richey, Fla.
She was very active in her retirement and particularly enjoyed dance lessons and dance groups, sewing, golf, cards, and attending musical performances. When she became ill with amyloidosis, she returned to Chestertown to live with her mother.
She is survived by her mother, Ernestine J. Matthews; three children, Karen Dean of Truth or Consequences, N.M., Pat Brick of Chevy Chase, Walter Dean of Baltimore; and twin grandchildren, Catie Brick and Colin Brick.
Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Still Pond Cemetery, Still Pond, Md.
