WAVERLY - Emma King of Waverly, Iowa, died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, in Waverly. Emma was born Jan. 24, 1911, the daughter of William and Christina Wolf, near Ellendale, Del. In 1929, she graduated from Georgetown High School, in Georgetown, Del. On Nov. 30, 1935, she was united in marriage to Norman J. King, in Sharptown, Md. Emma was a longtime employee of the International Playtex Corporation, in Dover, Delaware, where she worked as a secretary. Emma enjoyed gardening, sewing and travel. She was also very involved as a volunteer, giving many hours to the library and Senior Citizens Center. Family was very important to Emma; she had a special relationship with her granddaughters, Christina and Rebecca. Emma is survived by her son, Donald R. King and his wife, Marianna of Waverly; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman J. King in 1992; sisters, Helen and Christina; brother, William Wolf; and her parents. Emma's body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held later this spring in the Good Shepherd Chapel, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, in Waverly, with Pastor Larry Trachte officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later time in Union Cemetery, Georgetown, Del. Memorials may be directed to Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community.
