MILTON - Emma J. Campbell of Milton passed on to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover after a courageous battle with heart failure. She was 95.
Born on Aug. 14, 1911, in Milton, she was the daughter of the late Millard and Margaret "Maggie" Walls.
She was a homemaker all of her life and was recognized as an expert seamstress.
For many years she sewed and did clothing alterations for the public.
She loved working with her hands to create many beautiful items with a needle, which she gave to others as special gifts.
She also enjoyed growing lovely flowers and truly had a green thumb, as evidenced by the Easter lilies she planted which bloom every year behind her home.
Mrs. Campbell was a member of Goshen United Methodist Church in Milton, but in recent years attended churches served by her son-in-law and grandson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram S. Campbell, who passed away in April of 1983; and three brothers and three sisters, Fannie P. Conaway, Clarence "Pete" Walls, Thelma Warrington, Hannah Hill, Millard Walls and Ura Walls.
She is survived by one daughter, Joann C. Cohen and her husband, the Rev. Conrad M. "Connie" Cohen of Dover, with whom she lived for the past eight months; two grandchildren, Jill (Cohen) Hamma of Newark and the Rev. Jack D. Cohen and his wife, Melissa of Port Deposit, Md., to whom Emma was "Mom-Mom"; five beautiful great-grandchildren who called her "Granny," Jacob Cohen, Emma Gayle Cohen (her namesake), Rachel Cohen, Hannah Cohen, and Natalie Hamma; another Cohen grandson, who is due to make an appearance this August; and she will be sorely missed by many precious nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to celbrate her "home-going" at 11 a.m., Monday in Bethel United Methodist Church, Lewes. An opportunity to greet the family will be made available one hour prior, when a public viewing will be held immediately following the memorial service.
The interment will be private at Henlopen Memorial Park.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to a church of one"s choice to help further God"s Kingdom here on Earth.
