Emily C. Bland

HARRINGTON - Emily C. Bland, 79, of Harrington, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at the Milford Center, Genesis Eldercare. Mrs. Bland was the daughter of the late Clarence L. and Lena B. (Steele) Collins. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School. After school, she went to work at the DuPont Seaford Plant. She then went to work at L. D. Caulk in Milford for many years before retiring in 2002. She was an active member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Harrington. Emily enjoyed working puzzles, doing crossword puzzles in the newspapers as well as working in her yard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Milton Bland; two sisters, Catherine Newton and Marie Hammond; and two brothers, Paul Collins and Ralph Collins. She is survived by her brother, Alton Collins and his wife Evelyn of Harrington; and two sisters, Louise Ash and Hilda Lane, both of Camden. A viewing will be held from noon to 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 190 Raughley Hill Road, Harrington, where funeral services will held at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Milford - Harrington Highway, Harrington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in memory of Emily be made to the St. Stephens Church Memorial Fund, 190 Raughley Hill Road, Harrington, DE 19952. Arrangements by McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, Harrington.
