Emil Pindzola, 87

DOVER - Emil Pindzola of Dover died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 87.

Mr. Pindzola was born Aug. 30, 1919, in Scranton, Pa., son of the late Michael and Mary (Laskanych) Pindzola.

He served his country proudly for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. He retired in 1962 as a lieutenant colonel.

Mr. Pindzola had an imported car business after his retirement from the military.

He enjoyed flying light airplanes, two of which he built. More recently, he developed an interest in model railroading.

Mr. Pindzola was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the 13th Korean Bomber Squadron.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marthe Pindzola in August 1969; and a son, Air Force Capt. Stephen Pindzola in 1985.

He is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, John Michael and Rhonda Pindzola of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Cathryn Pindzola of Dover, a sister, Eleanor Bello of Queens Village, N.Y.; a brother, Daniel Pindzola of York, Pa.; three grandchildren, Bradford Allen Pindzola of Wilmington and twins, Phillip Pindzola and Jessica Ellen Pindzola, both of Pittsburgh; and an extended family of cousins and friends.

Services will be 7 p.m. Friday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Jeff Osgood will officiate.

Burial with full military honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., at a later date.

Flowers are appreciated, but for those who wish, a memorial contribution may be made to a charity of choice.
