Elsa Brownson Koons

JACKSONVILLE, FLA - Elsa Brownson Koons, passed away peacefully in the presence of family in Jacksonville, Fla. on Oct. 27, 2010 after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Brownson Koons was born Elsa Faye Macy on Aug. 25, 1916 in Chandler, Oklahoma, the fifth of eight children born to Joseph William Macy and Pearl McKnight Macy. She attended Oklahoma A & M College and was married to Eldridge B. Brownson in Chevy Chase, Md. on June 18, 1939. Mrs. Brownson served with the American Red Cross in WWII. During her marriage to Mr Brownson, they lived in Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut, Ohio and Delaware. While living in Dover, Del., they were members of Christ Episcopal Church. Mr. Brownson passed away on March 26, 1993. Moving to Florida in 1997, Mrs. Brownson married James Evan Koons in July, 2000. Mr Koons passed away in 2005. Mrs Brownson Koons is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Emily Brownson of Dover; daughter and son-in-law Camilla and Peter Kenny of Jacksonville, Florida; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Jo Frandsen of Idaho Falls, Idaho; as well as several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in Dover, Del. at a later date.
