Elmer Daniel Hostetler

Hostetler, 78 GREENWOOD - Elmer Daniel Hostetler entered into eternal rest on Wed, Dec. 12, 2012 at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna, DeL. Elmer was born Mar 4, 1934 to the late Mary Belle Smucker Hostetler and George Milton Hostetler in Westover, Md., the youngest of 10 children. Elmer is best known for his gentle, honest, and forgiving character, a genuine follower of Jesus Christ, and for displaying a great love for his family. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Elmer Hostetler; a brother, John Hostetler; and sisters, Mable Overholt, and Susie Kurtz. Elmer is survived by his daughter, Julia (Gary) Umberger; his son, Daniel (Tina) Hostetler; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Mark, Joseph, David, and George Hostetler; sisters, Marie Detwiler, and Sara Grace Miller; many nieces and nephews, special friends, Stuart and Delores Mast, and many friends at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill. Elmer's family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Candee Unit 5 of the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill for their loving care and support, and to Stuart and Delores Mast for their long term loving support as his friend and advocate. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Greenwood Mennonite Church, 12525 Shawnee Rd, Greenwood, DE 19950. A celebration of Elmer's life will be held on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Greenwood Mennonite Church. Interment is to follow at the adjoining cemetery. Arrangements by Fleischauer Funeral Home.
