Elizabeth A. 'Liz' Thompson, 61
CAMDEN - Elizabeth A. "Liz" Thompson of Camden died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover due to complications from lupus. She was 61.
Mrs. Thompson was in the first graduating class of Holy Cross High School in 1963, and graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia in 1966.
She worked as a registered nurse at Bayhealth in the operating room, the emergency room, and 2-N in Dover as well as Milford. She retired due to lupus.
Mrs. Thompson was active throughout the years with the Lupus Society of Dover, Kent County Retired Nurses, and her prayer group at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
She was also a community leader and public organizer in Kent County, and she was well known in the Dover area for her commitment to land use and other issues with the Kent County Planning Commission and Levy Court.
Mrs. Thompson devoted her life to the service of others. Known for her kindness and generosity, she will be greatly missed by family, friends and the many others she dedicated her life to helping.
She was preceded in death by her father, Albert L. Cajthaml Sr.
She is survived her husband, Earl "Buddy" Thompson of Camden; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberly Bicanic of Antioch, Ill. and Candace and Clifton Payne Mitchell Sr. of Pensacola, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Kelsey Bicanic, Nicolas Bicanic and Abigale Bicanic, all of Antioch, and Clifton Payne Mitchell Jr. of Pensacola; her mother, Victoria E. Cajthaml of Dover; a brother and a sister-in-law, Albert L. Jr. and Christine Cajthaml of Camden; a sister, Laura J. Thomas of Dover; three nieces, Jennifer M. Pinkerton of Dover, Jamie L. Thomas of Dover and Melissa A. Simmons of Pittsburgh; and a nephew, David K. Thomas of Lansing, Mich.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover.
Burial to follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Lupus Foundation of America, Inc., P.O. Box 631047, Baltimore, MD 21263-1047.
