OAK ORCHARD - Eliza L. White, passed away Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, in Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. She was 94. She was the first of twelve children born to Charles W.W. Moore and Mary Moore of Oak Orchard, on August 3, 1914. She graduated from Millsboro High School in 1932 and then went to school for her beautician license. She owned White's Beauty Shop in Georgetown for over 40 years. Her career of operating a beauty shop was interrupted during World War II, where she was a line leader at Milford Ordnance making anti aircraft ammunition, fulfilling her patriotic duty, as she had three brothers already in the service. She survived an explosion at the plant where many women lost their lives. She was a member of Wesley Methodist Church in Georgetown. Eliza was preceded in death by her husband, Linwood White in 1986; her siblings, Ruth McGee, Eva Webb, Charles Moore, Norman Moore, Raymond Moore, Robert Moore, Gerald Moore, and Shirley (Patty) Fritz. She is survived by a sister, Mary Boyce of Laurel; two brothers, Joseph and Irvin Moore, both of Oak Orchard; many loving nieces and nephews, including Janice M. Chorman, with whom she lived. Eliza will always be remembered as the Matriarch of the Moore Family. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Burial will be in Millsboro Cemetery.
