DAGSBORO - Elfriede "Effie" Rogers of Dagsboro, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2007, at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was 67.
She was born April 13, 1940, in Germany, the daughter of the late Johann and Emilie Schmolka.
She was raised in Germany, and at age 21 married and traveled for 20 years with her husband as an Army wife before settling in Delaware.
She then worked for Kim Sewing Manufacturing, Intervet Inc, and Rose"s Department Store before retiring in 2000.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill A. Rogers Jr. in 1983.
She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Brittingham and her husband, Sam of Georgetown, Linda Hicke and her husband, Joseph of Germany; four grandchildren, Dustin Brittingham, Samantha Brittingham, John Brown, and Petra Martin; a great-grandchild, Nina Martin; and a brother, Herbert Schmolka of Germany.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at noon at the Frankford chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Thatcher Street in Frankford, where friends may call after 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Dagsboro Redmens Memorial Cemetery.
Instead of flowers the family suggests donations in Mrs. Roger"s memory to, Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
