Eleanor M. Truitt, 83

MILFORD - Eleanor M. Truitt, formerly of Lincoln, died Tuesday, October 13, 2009, in Capitol Nursing Home, Dover. She was 83. Mrs. Truitt was born April 4, 1926 in Milford, the daughter of the late Myrtle Kenton. She had been raised by her aunt and uncle, Bernice and Charles Swain of Milford since she was four years old. She worked for L.D. Caulk in Milford for 27 years. She was an excellent cook and loved to use the fresh vegetables picked from her husband's garden. She was an avid reader and continued to listen to books on tape after she lost her eye sight. In addition to her mother, aunt and uncle, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. 'Poley' Truitt, in 2001; and a son, Bernie Roldan. She is survived by her daughter and grandchildren, with whom she lived, Donna Holleger and Wesley and Madison Holleger, all of Milford; three daughters, Mary Lou Biger of Kenton, Bernice Conley of Seaford, and Bonnie O'Neal of Smyrna; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three half brothers, Elmer Kenton, of Cordova, Md., Bobby Kenton of Easton, Md., and Edward Kenton of Harrington; and four half sisters, Audrey Dale of Frederica, Doris King of Magnolia, Jean Hall of Dover, and Janet Martin of Smyrna. Funeral services were held on Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford. Burial was held at the Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Lincoln Cemetery Association, 7360 Marshall St., Lincoln, DE 19960.
