Edwin R. 'Eddie' Trinks Jr., 69

STILL POND, Md. - Edwin R. "Eddie" Trinks Jr., of Still Pond, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, in Washington Hospital Center. He was 69. Mr. Trinks was born on June 1, 1939, and raised in Still Pond Neck, son of the late Edwin R. Sr. and Hilda Dorothy Watts Trinks. In 1961 he enlisted and served with the U.S. Air Force for four years. Upon his discharge he moved to Woodbury, N.J., and worked for Bousch & Lomb in Philadelphia, Pa. Trained as an optician, in the late 1970's, he returned to Still Pond to open Ideal Optical which he operated until his health failed. Mr. Trinks was Past Commander of the C. Henry Price American Legion Post 246 in Betterton, where he recently was awarded Life Membership. He enjoyed the outdoors, boating and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, collecting memorabilia of the Betterton-Still Pond area and taking his DeSoto to car shows. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Trinks; and nephew, Tyrone Brown. He is survived by five siblings, Dorothy Winant and her husband Theodore of Newark, Allen Trinks of Dover, William "Billy" Trinks and his wife Patricia of Chestertown, Marvin Trinks of Worton, Linda Leonard and her husband Bruce of Clayton; and two nephews, B.J. and Philip Trinks, both of Chestertown. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, where funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial in Still Pond Cemetery. Memorials may be offered to C. Henry Price, Post 246, P.O. Box 100, Betterton, MD 21610.
