Edward Hampton Johnson, Jr. passed away on July 9, 2022, in Fort Myers, FL.
Ed was born October 11, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA. After graduating from Palmyra High School he served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958, including a 15-month tour in Korea. Ed earned a degree in electrical engineering from Drexel University in 1963. Ed worked at the Goddard Space Flight Center and retired from NASA in 1992. He then worked for Boeing, retiring in 2000. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed catching and cooking blue crabs. He shared his culinary talents with family and friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Hampton Johnson and Elizabeth (nee Myers). He is survived by his wife, Joanne (Foust Bryan), formerly of Dover; children, Dawn (Jay) Stern of Salisbury, MD, Ed (Denise) of Salisbury, MD, Eric (Heidi) of Berlin, MD, and Anthony of Salisbury, MD; sister, Joyce (Jan) Conover of Philadelphia, PA; step-daughter, Kim Bates of Dover; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held in Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Cypress Lake United Methodist Church, Fort Myers, FL, where Ed was a member.
