Edmund P. Lusby Sr. KENNEDYVILLE, Md. - Edmund P. Lusby Sr., of Kennedyville, died on Friday, May 7, 2010, after a long illness. Mr. Lusby was born on a farm near Kennedyville, Md., on Nov. 10, 1924. He was the son of the late, Mary T. and Arthur Lusby Sr. He was 85. He graduated from Chestertown High School, Class of 1941. He then farmed the family farm near Kennedyville from 1946 - 1954. He moved to his home in Kennedyville and worked for Southern States Management Service at Kent Cooperative from 1954 - 1955. He was a Delmarva Feed salesman for John W. Eshelman Red Rose Feeds from 1956 to 1965. Agway employed him from 1966 to 1968 as a fieldman and store manager. In 1968 he took over the Montgomery Ward Catalog Agency in Chestertown where he operated it until Montgomery Ward discontinued the catalog business in 1985. Following his retirement from Montgomery Ward he enjoyed traveling and camping. Over the years, his hobbies included dancing, boating, collecting brass, antique cars, playing cards and putting puzzles together. He was a charter member of the Kennedyville Volunteer Fire Company and served as president for two terms. He was also a past president of the Kennedyville Water Association. In earlier years, he was involved with the Farm Bureau and the 4-H Club.He was also a lifetime member of the Shrewsbury Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry from 1947 to 1980 and was Junior Warden from 1962 to 1974. Mr. Lusby is survived by his devoted wife, the former Harriett A. Legg Lusby whom he married on Nov. 24, 1945; three daughters, Harriett Rebecca "Becky" Elburn and her husband, Carl of Chestertown, Md., Linda A. Baker and her husband Ed of Salisbury, Md., Sandra M. Hopkins and her husband George of Crownsville, Md.; a son, Edmund P. Lusby Jr. of Preston, Md. and his fiancé Kathleen Bissonnette; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary T. Mullikin of Centreville, Md.; and a brother, A. Morgan Lusby Jr. of Chestertown, Md. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret E. Hanlon, H. Louise Sharp, and Catherine E. Harrington. A funeral service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at Shrewsbury Parish in Kennedyville, Md. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 10, at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Chestertown, Md. Interment will be Shrewsbury Parish Cemetery.
