GREENSBORO, Md. - Edmund G. Russell, of Greensboro, died of respiratory failure on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital in Dover, Del. He was 88. Mr. Russell was born in Louisville, Ky., to parents William and Lenore Russell. Mr. Russell retired from the USAF as a Captain, after 21 years of service. After the service, he worked for the State of Delaware as a systems analyst. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the Retired Officers Affiliation. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a son, Glenn H. Russell; and two sisters, Dorothy Barr and Patricia Bott. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carol N. Russell; son, Edmund G. (Scott) Russell Jr. and his wife Patricia of Dover, Del.; two grandchildren, Kealy Merritt and her husband Jeffrey and Ariane Nichols and her husband Robert; one great-grandson, Hunter Merritt; and finally a good friend, Mary Schrecengost and her family. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Gertrude's Monastery in Ridgely, Md. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to the St. Gertrude's Monastery, 14259 Benedictine Lane, Ridgely, MD 21660. Arrangements by Price Funeral Home, Harrington, Del.
