Edith Jane Vanaman Peterson, 92
LEWES - Edith Jane Vanaman Peterson of Lewes and Wilmington went home to be with the Lord, whom she loved and served for 80 years, on Tuesday, July 10, 2007. She was 92.
Edith was born on Dec. 15, 1914, in Woodstown, N.J., daughter of the late Harry and Nellie Seagraves Vanaman.
She was married to the Rev. Dr. Harold I. Peterson, former pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Wilmington. He preceded her is death in 1985.
In addition to being a pastor"s wife and a mother, Edith taught school at Wilmington Christian School and in later years served as a housemother at the Beebe Hospital School of Nursing, Lewes.
Those loving and surviving her are a daughter, Dr. Barbara Peterson of Lewes; a son, Robert D. Peterson; a grandson, Bob Peterson II and Krissy; a great-granddaughter, Jade Peterson, all of Claymont; two adopted granddaughters, Cathy Schenker of Milton and Lynn Bastian of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; four nieces, a nephew and hundreds of former students, adopted grandchildren and friends.
A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church of Lewes, Kings Highway, Lewes.
Burial was held in Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown, N.J.
Instead of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Messiah Ministries, P.O. Box 396, Taylors, SC 29687.
