HARRINGTON - Earl W. Everline, of Harrington, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012. He was 84. Mr. Everline served his country proudly in the National Guard for seven years. He retired from DuPonts in 1985 as a pipe fitter. He also did quite a bit of farming, which was his main passion in life. He thoroughly enjoyed farming, and hated to give it up. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing Canasta and at one time he coached Little League. He loved to kid around and have fun, and his loud distinctive laugh was quite infectious. Mr. Everline was a member of the Prospect United Methodist Church and longtime member of the Harrington Senior Center. In addition to his parents, H. Wesley and Emma C. Everline, he was preceded in death by wife, Jane Everline; sons, Ronald W. Everline, Robert E. Everline, and Michael J. Everline; and brother, Raymond O. Everline. He is survived by brothers, Allen T. Everline of Greenwood, and Louis P. Everline of Seaford; sisters, Ann Lock of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Lois Hopkins of Harrington; numerous nieces and nephews; and faithful companion, Penny, his parrot. Services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, visit our website at www.melvinfuneralhome.com for further information, leave a letter of condolence, or to send flowers.
