SMYRNA, DE - Earl F. Solloway passed away on February 1, 2024. He was born January 17, 1928, to Clarence and Helen Solloway the oldest son of 12 children.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice of 62 years; and his son, Earl Jr.
Earl will be remembered as a wonderful father and grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed. Earl was a truck driver who loved what he did. He drove a million miles without an accident and was truck rodeo champion while working at Air Products in Delaware City.
He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy (Dick)Dempsey; grandchildren, Tucker (Paige) Dempsey, Joshua Dempsey; and great granddaughter, Alexis Dempsey; and step great grandchildren, Ebin and Dylan. He is also survived by his loving brother, Jack Solloway; and two sisters, Bonny Lightcap and Sharon Dempsey.
In his last year of life, he was lovingly taken care of by Jassa and Gracie Major. In his last month he was also lovingly taken care of by Fatu, Tee, Nixon, Solomon, and Christine. Also, Compassionate Care Hospice nurse Liz and aide Iricka.
In lieu of flowers contributions should be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 416 Williams St, Suite 101, Milford DE 19963.
A viewing will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024 from 10 AM to 11 AM in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 South Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services with Pastor Keith Noel will begin at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.
