Duro Milan 'George' Vujanic, 81 MILLINGTON, Md. - Duro Milan "George" Vujanic, passed away peacefully October 12, 2009 in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Vujanic was born on September 12, 1928 in Yugoslavia, son of the late Milan D. and Julika Markovic Vujanic. He was a veteran of the Yugoslavian National Serbian Army during WWII, retreating into Italy after the communist takeover of Yugoslavia, in 1944. From there he moved to Great Britain before immigrating to the United States in 1959. He then began his 33 year career with Chrysler Corporation. His memberships include UAW Local 1183, Newark, DE., Asbury United Methodist Church and he associated with St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church in Philadelphia, PA. George was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan and overall sports enthusiast. He was gifted in building, landscaping and gardening and enjoyed international travel. Additionally, he was fluent in six different languages. His greatest enjoyment was found in his own home, in the presence of his wife, children and grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Pavle Vujanic. Mr. Vujanic is survived by his wife of 52 years, Violet Murdoch Vujanic, two daughters; Margaret Blankenship and her husband Tom and Isabella Sampson and her husband Bruce all of Crumpton, MD, two sons; Aleksandar "Sandy' Vujanic and his wife Carol of Bel Air, MD, and D. Mali Vujanic and his wife Brenda of Millington, MD, and twelve grandchildren; T. Levi Blankenship and his wife Jana, Julika Ann Blankenship, Adam, Bruce, Buck, and Isabella V. Cameron Sampson, Gabrielle, Alek, Nathan and Jonah Vujanic and Victor and Sarah Vujanic. In addition, Mr. Vujanic is survived by a special niece; Danica Vujanic of Brdani, Croatia and two nephews; Duro Vujanic and his family, of Adelaide, Australia and David Murdoch and his family of Murray, Utah, as well as a sister-in-law, Anda Vujanic of Brdani, Croatia. A Graveside service will be held on Friday, October 16 at 11:30 am in Georgetown Cemetery, 31279 Georgetown Cemetery Rd., Galena, MD, where Father Milorad Orlic will officiate.
