Dottie Gean Snowden

Dottie Gean Snowden, 58

HARBESON - Dottie Gean Snowden, of Harbeson, was born to the late William and Mary Snowden on Oct. 5, 1949. She departed this life Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, at the early age of 58.

Dottie graduated from Jason High School of Georgetown.

She married the late James E. Hood of Milton.

Dottie was a member of the Blakely (S.C.) Methodist Church. After moving to Lincoln, she attended church at Pentecostal Church of God, and then moved to Harbeson where she was a current member of Mt. Carmel Seventh Day Adventist Church in Harrington. Each church that she attended she became a member of the choir as she loved singing for the Lord.

She could always be found with a smile on her face. Her warm smile and loving nature made it easy for her to love and be loved.

Her favorite pastimes were shopping and entertaining.

Dottie enjoyed working no matter what the task.

She is survived by her daughter, Dawne Snowden-Lowther and son-in-law David Lowther Jr. of Harbeson; four sisters, Dora Snowden and Jannie Mifflin, both of Ellendale, Fannie Frazier of Milford and Audrey Burgess of Dallas, Ga.; two brothers, Jerome Snowden and sister-in-law Barbara of Ellendale and Keith "TJ" Snowden of San Diego; a nephew, Willie Burgess, and niece, Elaine Worthy, both of Dallas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be noon Wednesday at the Mt. Carmel Seventh Day Adventist Church, 103 Mechanic St., Harrington, where friends may call three hours prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Milford Community Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Milford.
