Dorothy 'Dot' Margaret (Wilson) Moore, 87
GEORGETOWN - Dorothy "Dot" Margaret (Wilson) Moore passed peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, in her Georgetown home of 68 years, surrounded by her family. She was 87.
Dorothy was the daughter of the late J. Carroll and Edith W. Cooper Wilson.
She was an active member of St. John's United Methodist Church, at Springfield Crossroads for 70 years.
She was known as Aunt Dot and Mom-Mom Moore to the many children in the Sunday School program at St. John's United Methodist Church.
Dorothy was a Sunday school teacher for more than 45 years and was also involved in the children's program and vacation bible school as a teacher and record keeper.
She served her church as the cemetery administrator, administrative council member and trustee.
As church historian, Dorothy maintained meticulous records of the life of her church and its members.
She was well known in her community for keeping in touch and reaching out to others.
Her visitations, cards and phone calls were missions that she continued faithfully until the last year of her life.
Her husband of 44 years, J. Everett Moore, preceded her death in 1982. Dorothy passed away on what would have been their 70th wedding anniversary.
She is survived by her four children, Ronald W. and his wife Pat Moore, Merrill C. Moore, J. Everett Moore Jr. and Teresa and her husband Tom Adams, all of Georgetown; nine grandchildren, Eric W. Moore, Rhonda L. Dukes and husband Chris, Merrill C. Moore Jr. and wife Heather, all of Georgetown, Jennifer Boniface and husband Rob of Richmond, Va., Lara Lane and husband Nick of Millsboro, Jaime Margaret Moore of Baltimore, James Everett "Trey" Moore III, Ashley Margaret Adams, and Ryan T. Adams, both of Georgetown; and four great-granddaughters, Ember Dukes, Taylor Dukes, Alex Dukes of Georgetown and Addison Rose Lane of Millsboro; a daughter-in-law, Debbie J. Moore; and a brother-in-law and wife, Carlton and Hilda Moore of Georgetown.
A service will be 2 p.m. Saturday to celebrate her life at St. John's United Methodist Church, Gravel Hill Road, Georgetown, where friends may call two hours prior.
Burial will be at the St. John's Cemetery following the service.
Instead of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, c/o Phyllis Hitchens, 22338 Gravel Hill Road, Georgetown, DE 19947.
