HENDERSON, Md. - Dorothy Mae Higgs of Henderson, died Friday, April 6, 2012 in Berlin, at Atlantic General Hospital. She was 93. Born September 5, 1918 in Baltimore County, she was the daughter of the late, Elmer Thomas and Edith Spamer Eck. She grew up in Baltimore County and in 1939 married William Jennings Higgs and they moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland in 1953 where they farmed in the Bridgetown/Ingleside area. During the winter months they lived in Naples, Fla. and in the summer they vacationed in Chincoteague, Va. Mr. Higgs died July 10, 2005. She loved cooking for her family, crocheting and riding in the golf cart and visiting neighbors. She is survived by four sons, Clifford, Eugene, Thomas and Michael Higgs, all of Ingleside; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by a son, William Robert Higgs; a daughter, Wanda Mae; a grandson, William Robert Higgs, Jr.; and a brother, Carl Eck. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Centreville, Md. Where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. Burial will be at Sudlersville Cemetery, Sudlersville, Md.
