Milford - Dorothy L. Stubbs died Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born July 6, 1929 in Frederica at the family farm of her late parents, Clifford and Eva Coverdale. Dorothy retired from a successful career as a beautician after running her own business for many years. She retired to enjoy life with her late husband, Charlie Stubbs, as well as their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy was a life-long member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Frederica, Delaware. She loved baseball (especially the Phillies) and many other sports. She knew the stats, the starting line-ups and who was being traded. She never missed a ballgame, piano recital or dance performance (including the Nutcracker each year) that involved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Most important to her were her faith, her family and her many many friends. She was preceded in death by her three sons, Charles, Wayne and Conrad Jester. She was survived by her three daughters, Lois Ann Bradley (Edwin), Cynthia L. Tatman (Donald), and Jane L. Stayton (Clinton), all of Milford, Delaware. Dorothy was also survived by her five grandchildren, Mark and Stephen Bradley (Lois), and Cindy Tatman-Hogan (Cynthia), Kimberly Wilcutts and Charles Stayton (Jane). She was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren; Madison and Audrey Bradley (Mark), Bejamin, Caroline and Clare Bradley (Stephen), Taylor Hogan (Cindy), and Joel, Sarah Jane and Thomas Wilcutts (Kimberly). A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014, starting at 10 a.m. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 S W. Front Street, Milford, Delaware. The service for the celebration of her life will follow the visitation at noon. Interment will follow at Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, DE Our special thanks is extended to Compassionate Care Hospice, including Chaplain Troy C, Dennis, Sr., nurses and CNAs for their loving care and support over these last several weeks.
