DOVER - Dorothy J. Briggs, formerly of Dover, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, in Stella Maris Care Center, Timonium, Md. She was 87.
Mrs. Briggs was born Jan. 8, 1919, in New York City, daughter of the late George and Irene (Cummerford) Seip. She was raised in Weehawken, N.J.
She came to Dover in 1964 with her husband, working at General Foods when it opened. She also worked for S & H Green Stamp Store, Dover.
Mrs. Briggs was member of the Dover Century Club and Holy Cross Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Briggs, in 2001
She is survived by two sons, William G. Briggs of Stafford, Va., and Dennis Briggs of Woodbridge, Va.; two daughters, Sue Briggs of Columbia, Md., and Patricia Dumroese of Nottingham, Md.; a sister, Muriel Baker of Bricktown, N.J.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Trader Funeral Home Inc., 12 Lotus St., Dover.
Mass of Christian burial will be noon Friday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Dover.
Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Jenkins Senior Living Community, 3320 Benson Ave., Baltimore, MD 21227.
