Dorothy H. (McFarland) Turner, 94

WARWICK, Md. - Dorothy H. (McFarland) Turner of Warwick passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 24., 2007, in Christiana Care-Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 94.

Born on Jan. 9, 1913, in Camden, N.J., she was the daughter of the late James and Nora (Donovan) McFarland.

At an early age, Mrs. Turner left school to help around the family home.

Unable to complete her formal education then, she worked hard and proudly received her GED equivalent at the age of 65.

Mrs. Turner retired from the Delaware State Hospital where she worked for many years as an LPN.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Turner Jr., in 1974; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Turner, in 1993; a daughter, Norma L. Moore, in 2000; and a son-in-law, Harold Cheyney, in 2005.

She leaves many cherished memories to her two daughters, Dorothy "Dollie" Cheyney of Cecilton and Jane Turner Daniels and her husband Rodney of Middletown, Del.; a son, Robert T. Turner of Warwick; a sister, Madeline Miller of Ocean Springs, Miss.; a sister-in-law, Irene McFarland of Wilmington, Del.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be noon Monday in Zion United Methodist Church, 164 W. Main St., Cecilton, where family and friends may call one hour prior.

Mrs. Turner will be laid to rest beside her husband and daughter in Crumpton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a memorial fund for Mrs. Turner at Zion United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 326, Cecilton, MD 21913-0326.
