GEORGETOWN - Dorothy E. Leidner, of Georgetown, formerly of Uniondale, Long Island, N.Y., died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, at Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 82. Mrs. Leidner was born in Jamaica - Queens, N.Y., the daughter of the late Charles and Elsie (Valis) Fausner. She worked as an assembler for the Dupont Company for several years in Garden City, N.Y. before retiring in 1985. She attended St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Milford and was a member of the Georgetown Cheer Center in Georgetown. She loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Leidner in 1999. She is survived by a daughter Dottie Hludzinski and her husband Robert, of Milton; two sons, John C. Leidner and his wife Barbara, of Selden, N.Y., and James C. Leidner, of Georgetown; a brother, Charles Fausner, of Carle Place, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Denise Ali, Thomas Hludzinski, Michael Leidner, and Diane Leidner; three great-grandsons, Ryan, Brandon, and Shawn Ali; a special nephew, Christopher Fausner; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Avenue, Milford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Seabury Avenue and School Place, Milford. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Rt. 113, Millsboro. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Georgetown Cheer Center, 546 South Bedford Street, Georgetown, DE 19947.
