Dorothy Ann (Lee) Slacum, 81
BRIDGEVILLE - Dorothy Ann (Lee) Slacum of Bridgeville passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at a private care residence in Greenwood. She was 81.
Dorothy was born in Vienna, Md., on Feb. 13, 1926, daughter of the late George D. and Grace (Murphy) Lee.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Harry W. Johnson in 1965, and George L. Slacum Sr. in 2003.
Dorothy previously worked for the former Excelsior Pearl Works in Federalsburg, Md., and was a baby sitter for a number of years. She retired in 1989 from the Woodbridge School District as a cafeteria worker.
She loved to play cards and cook. One of her favorite dishes was lima bean soup with dumplings for the Slacum reunions.
Dorothy is survived by a daughter, June Shockley and her husband John of Bridgeville; a son, Gary Johnson and his companion Lee Reed of Seaford; his stepsons, George L. Slacum Jr. and his wife Judy of Georgetown, and Robert L. Slacum and his wife Linda of Seaford; a brother, Paul Lee and his wife Marie of Vienna; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws St., Bridgeville, with the Rev. Diane Melson officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Bridgeville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance, P.O. Box 727, Bridgeville, DE 19933.
