DOVER - Doris M. Roscoe-Best, 79, passed into God's loving care on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at Kent General Hospital. Born in Dover, on Feb. 14, 1932, Doris spent her first 45 years as a resident of Wyoming. She was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, Class of 1950. She married V. William Roscoe Jr. and had three children. Doris was an active member of Wyoming United Methodist Church and sang in the choir for many years. In 1974, Doris married Harold J. Best and eventually relocated to Statesboro, Ga. There she again became active in her church, Statesboro United Methodist, serving on many committees and singing in the choir. She was honored for her community service with the Deen Day Smith Award. Doris was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served in leadership positions. Doris was a "people person" and made friends wherever she went. Her friendly smile and generous spirit will be missed by them and her family. Doris was predeceased by her parents, Cairl K. and Pauline Richardson; and her loving husband, Harold J. Best. She is survived by her three children, V. William (Billy) Roscoe of Ruffin, S.C., Richard (Ricky) Roscoe (Karen) of Hamilton, N.J., and Faith Robinson (Hilton Joseph) of Dover; nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 15, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather two hours earlier. Additional services and burial will be in Statesboro, Ga. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Families of the Fallen, Support Branch, 116 Purple Heart Dr., DAFB, DE 19902.
