Doretta Agnes Ford

CAMDEN-WYOMING- Doretta Agnes Ford passed away in her home a result of a long struggle with Lung Disease, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, May 28, 2013. She was born on August 5, 1937 in Harrington, Del. to William and Gladys Thompson. Doretta enjoyed crocheting, doing word search puzzles, and participating in church activities. She was a member of the Willow Grove Church of God for many years, and proudly acted as the Sunday School Secretary there. Doretta attended the Felton High School; she worked at the Star Hill Elementary School cafeteria and at Shulties Groceries for 30 + years before retiring from there. She loved spending time with her family, most especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She dutifully and happily attended all of their sports activities, as well as those of her nieces, nephews, or family friends. She also spent every Saturday evening at Brunswick Doverama, watching her family and friends bowl. She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Deborah; her son, Christopher; her brother, Carl; her sisters, Doris Davis, and Hulda Jane Jones. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Christopher T. Ford, Jr.; their children, including daughter Donna Massey, and her husband, Michael; daughter, Patricia Ford Benitez; daughter, Gladys Norton; and son, Jeffery Scott Ford. She also leaves to mourn are her siblings, Harry "Bucky" Thompson and William "George" Thompson; as well as her beloved grandchildren, Donald Daniels, Jennifer Glanden, Thomas Daniels, Robert Benitez, Chrissy Garcia, Melissa Summers, Kevin Benitez, April Rangel, Debbie Moore, Harley Murphy, and Thurley Murphy; as well as 17 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. A service will be held on Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Pippin Funeral Home in Wyoming, Del., with a viewing beginning at 11 a.m., services will start at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at the Sharon Hills Memorial Cemetery in Dover. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Willow Grove Church of God. Friends and family may send letters of condolences via http://www.pippinfuneralhome.com/.
