DOVER - Lt. Col. Donald Wayne Bernard, Sr. passed away in his home on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012. He was born Feb. 22, 1933 in Pattonsburg, Mo. to Luther J. and Mary Ellen Bernard. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Foy Jean Bernard; His daughter, Melody J. Wireman and her husband, Eddie; his son, Donald W. Bernard, Jr. ("Chuck") and his wife Becky; his daughter, Mary J. Henry and her husband, Mike; his daughter, Beth Lucas, and her husband, Don. He is deeply missed by his grandchildren, Rebecca Soeiro, Jessica Jackson, Matt Henry, Michael Henry, Megan McCullum, Jordan Bernard, Kristen Zeman, Kim Willoughby, Casey Wireman, Taylor Lucas, Austin Wireman, Rachel Lucas; and 12 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother, Lester Bernard of Colo.; and three sisters, Linda Borowsky of Fla., Ann Hinds of Ga., and June Christiansen of N.C.; as well as a host of other family and friends. A viewing will be held at the Pippin Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will take place on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at the First Baptist Church on Walker Road in Dover at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery in Camden, DE.
