Donald W. Warner

CLAYTON - Donald W. Warner, Sr. passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2019 at Kent General Hospital.
Donald was born Jan. 31, 1938 in Smyrna, to the late Thomas and Ada Warner.
He served in the National Guards and retired from Playtex after 32 years. He enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, fishing, feeding and watching the birds, and watching western movies. Donald was a hardworking man and you could always find him outside doing something, with sweat rolling off his nose. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, William Warner; nephew, Danny; stepsons, Robert and Marty "Jerry" Hill; stepdaughter, Vicki Nicely; and his beloved dog "Dooger".
He is survived by his wife Zetta Hodge Warner of Clayton; son, Donald W. Warner, Jr. and his wife Celine of Newport News, Va.; daughter, Sharon Truax and her husband Ronald of Smyrna, Deborah Ellis and her husband Richard of Dover; sons, Gary and Thomas Warner both of Clayton; step-daughters, Patricia McNabb and her husband Thomas of Camden, Jean Knick and her husband Bobby of Clifton Forge, Va.; sisters, Rachel Hayes of Hiddenite, N.C. and Mary Eckeard of Hartly; multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and mother of his five children, Elsie Pearce of Clayton.
Services will be private.
